The Next-Generation 2027 Hyundai Tucson Makes Its World Debut: What You Need to Know
October 14 2026,
The 2027 Hyundai Tucson made its world debut on October 1, and it changes more than the sheet metal. For New Brunswick shoppers weighing a compact SUV, the headline items are a bolder body, a new infotainment platform, a stronger hybrid and a trail-ready XRT PRO.
This is a first look at what Hyundai has confirmed so far, and what it means for the way you drive.
What Hyundai Has Confirmed for the 2027 Tucson
The design follows Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” direction: pronounced, muscular fenders, restrained door surfaces and crisp body lines. The body grows in every direction. It is 4,700 mm long (+60 mm), 1,905 mm wide (+40 mm) and 1,685 mm tall (+20 mm) compared to the previous model.
The front end also improves pedestrian safety and forward protection in a collision. The launch palette includes Serenity White Pearl plus new nature-inspired colours: Ranger Green Pearl, Kodiak Blue Pearl, Driftwood Gray Metallic and Red Rock Orange Pearl.
The wheelbase measures 2,785 mm, with a 915 mm front overhang and a 1,000 mm rear overhang. Wheels run from 17 inches to 20 inches, and the largest tire is a 235/50R20.
Two Powertrains and a Smarter Hybrid
The gasoline Tucson uses a turbocharged 1.6 L GDI engine rated at 184 hp and 195.3 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic. The hybrid powertrain adds two electric motors, rated at 17 hp and 64 hp, and a 1.49 kWh battery running at 270 V. Combined output is 233 hp and 279.9 lb-ft through a 6-speed automatic.

Two hybrid-only features stand out. E-Traction is standard on the hybrid and manages driving torque to reduce wheel slip in corners, adding grip on the inside tire. HEV Stay Mode lets you run the air conditioning, heating, audio and device charging with the engine off, which suits waiting in a parking lot or a break at a trailhead.
Towing also gets a lift. The HEV AWD model is rated for up to 3,000 lbs (1,361 kg), which is 1,000 lbs (454 kg) more than the previous model. That covers a small boat or a light camper.
Pleos Connect: A New Brain for the Dash
The 2027 Tucson is the first Hyundai vehicle in Canada to feature Pleos Connect. It runs on Android Automotive OS and brings a 17-inch or 12.9-inch centre display plus a standard 9.9-inch Slim Information Display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and physical buttons remain for key functions.
The headline feature is Gleo AI, a conversational assistant. You can say, “Find a hiking trailhead with parking within 30 minutes,” and it returns results based on the request. Embedded online navigation is available, apps install natively without phone mirroring, and over-the-air updates keep the system current.
Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6 handle connectivity. Seat-back USB-C ports deliver 100 W, and dual 15 W Qi 2.0 wireless charging pads are available.
XRT and XRT PRO: The Adventure Direction
The XRT adds the look of the trail. Wide frontal cladding and extended black wheel-arch cladding wrap the lower body, a forged-carbon-inspired motif marks the arches and lower black areas, and the bumpers carry bold skid-plate designs. Inside, dark metal finishes and XRT-exclusive seat patterns set it apart.
The XRT PRO takes that further with hardware. It brings all-wheel drive, all-terrain tires, front recovery hooks and an expanded cladding package. Ground clearance rises to 210 mm, which is 30 mm above the 180 mm of the standard Tucson.
The XRT PRO also gets Hyundai’s first Smart Terrain Assist. It reads traction and slip, then scores the terrain with a green, orange or red “stuck score.” Target Speed Control holds a chosen speed between 2 and 25 km/h, so you can focus on steering on a rough woods road or a muddy boat launch.
What Matters for Everyday Shoppers
The cabin seats five, with a 60/40 split-folding rear seat and 1,067 L of SAE-rated cargo volume. Front headroom is 1,036 mm and second-row legroom is 1,064 mm. The door opening angle widens from 73 degrees to 83 degrees, which makes getting in, strapping in a child seat or loading groceries easier.
Several safety and convenience items are available. Memory Reversing Assist records up to 30 km/h of driving and steers you back out of narrow spots. Ground View Monitor shows the terrain ahead and under the vehicle, and a centre side airbag is available.
The standard Tucson also carries LED headlamps and LED taillamps. A sport-inspired variant is set to debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 12.
Planning Your 2027 Tucson Decision
The XRT and XRT PRO are confirmed for Canada, and North America is part of the 2027 rollout. Details on final equipment combinations will follow as the launch gets closer, so now is the time to decide what you value most: the hybrid’s output and towing, the XRT’s rugged look, or the XRT PRO’s added clearance and terrain tools.
The 2027 Tucson Is Built for Your Next Adventure
The 2027 Tucson pairs a larger body and a wider door opening with Pleos Connect, a 233 hp hybrid and the XRT PRO’s 210 mm of clearance. It is the most complete Tucson Hyundai has built.
